The eighth track of 'Black Lives Matter' - a collaboration between Norwich-based trumpeter Chris Dowding and artist Laure Van Minden.

I made 'Stephen Lawrence' with the aim of including all the different elements of the BLM tracks I've made so far, and also the aim of making a longer track, which seemed fitting for the subject matter, with Stephen's case being well-known and significant in the UK. Both December names are people from the UK.

Possibly the most haunting, bleak and dark track of the series so far, I'm pleased with how 'Stephen Lawrence' has come out...

Doreen Lawrence (Stephen's mother):

"I would like Stephen to be remembered as a young man who had a future. He was well loved, and had he been given the chance to survive maybe he would have been the one to bridge the gap between black and white because he didn't distinguish between black and white. He saw people as people."

Sir William Macpherson (Macpherson Report):

"The need to re-establish trust between minority ethnic communities and the police is paramount...seeking the achieve trust and confidence through a demonstration of fairness will not in itself be sufficient. It must be accompanied by a vigorous pursuit of openness and accountability."
