about

The twenty-third track of the 'Black Lives Matter' collaboration between Norwich-based trumpeter Chris Dowding and artist Laure Van Minden.

In the last month of the project, a final lingering melody drifts away. The cover illustrates, reveals and shows Laure's process. Laptop synth, trumpet processed in Ableton and a distorted loop recorded through an amp, playing the names.

Many thanks to all our subscribers and listeners - double cassette of all the tracks coming soon...

Chris:

"I often listen on headphones - the delayed trumpet made me think of the different voices Natasha McKenna heard."

Laure:

"I first drew a black lifeline, her life, and decided to draw with my feet without looking, as Natasha's hands were in shackles. I then put masking tape around my wrists and used coloured pencils to draw on top of the pastels lines trying to escape the confinement of the restraint... Crushed life, crushed powder..."
